The future

of education is

here.

Schools of Tomorrow aims to invest in School Leaders - the conductors who make India’s schools run. Much of the educational research from the past two decades point to two investments that offer the greatest return-on-investment in improving outcomes for students from low-income communities. Intuitively, the first of those is the teacher. The second greatest investment is a community that is often overlooked: the school leader.

School leaders have the greatest influence on a school environment. They not only establish an instructional vision of excellence, but they also hire and retain excellent teaching talent. They manage operations and coach educators. They build culture and nurture teams to flourish. Wherever you’ll find a school filled with excellent teachers, you’ll inevitably find an excellent school leader in the backdrop. Despite the critical role these individuals play, efforts invested into building and developing this community are often too little, too late.

Equity and Reinvention: At-Odds or Ad-vantage

with Shekhar Singh (I.A.S.), PCMC Commissioner, Rahul Gupta (Rajalka Consulting), Atul Thakkar (Anand Rathi Advisors Ltd), Khushboo Awasthi (Shikshalokam), Moderator : Ramabhadran Sundaram (Teach For India)

On the one hand, we've seen over and over again, a separation between those innovating in learning in India and those working towards bridging the inequity. The most innovative schools are often exclusively for children from privileged backgrounds. On the other hand, quoting the Radical Departures report from Teach For America's Reinvention Lab, "We cannot define innovation without defining equity. They are inseparable in conversations about education. Innovation solves problems. The most inextricable problem in education is inequity. To be innovative, educational practice must solve for inequity. At the same time, driving harder in the current system and expecting different results has only worked to a point: equity needs innovation to create larger leaps towards a system that works for each and every young person. " So, are the two at odds with each other? Or can one serve as a natural advantage of the other?

School Leaders Panel : Building a culture of learning and innovation to build future ready schools

with Mridul Batra (Prakriti School), Krish Sridevi (School of discovery), Nandita Deosthale(Furthering Education and The Learning Center), Aparna Priyadarsini Mudaliat (Government Higher Primary School, Ramagondanahalli), Moderator : Aniket Thukral (Global School Leaders)

The biggest driver of impact and change is culture. The intangible, magical sauce that ties it all together. It is commonly said that we learn from what people do, not what they say. How we act, what we respond to, what we ignore, what finds time in our meetings, how do we respond to failure and so much more define what is prioritised and built in the school. How do you build a culture that is constantly focused on learning and innovation? How do you weave the focus of building future ready schools into the DNA of your school? What have been key levers in building the same? What are some practices that have had a disproportinate impact on building this culture?

Disruptions through AI: Impact on Learners

with Utsav Kheria (Rocket Learning), Nidhi Anarkat (Navgurukul), Akash Burlawar (Khan Academy), Payal Patel (Jayso Labs), Moderator : Abbas Dadla (The Circle India)

Schools of tomorrow will (have to/need to) live with technologies of tomorrow. While it may have many disruptions and many avantages, what's for sure is that AI will change learning and teaching fundamentally in the coming years. What are the key ways in which things will change? What do we leverage and take advantage of? What do we stay cautious of and prepare for? As teachers, as learners, as School Leaders?

Student Leaders Panel : Students as Nation Builders - How learning experiences should look like for us to be nation builders

12:30 - 1:30 PM with Astha Chaubey (KER), Riya Makwana (iTeach Schools), Triveni Dhamdhere (Akanksha Foundation), Sreesha Chainani (Riverside School) Akshata Bhosale (Avasara Academy), Moderator : Venil Ali (The Akanksha Foundation)

An important purpose of education is to build strong citizens of the world. All learning experiences, ideally, should be building up to this larger purpose. To effectively influence change at any level, we need knowledge, skills, mindsets and networks. In what ways have you contributed to building your school/community/society/nation? What learning experiences have helped you influence this change? As you think about experiences that shaped your development as a citizen, think about whether these were planned or unplanned, self driven or created by another, in the classroom, school or outside. If you had to design learning experiences that enable us to build the nation, what would you design? What knowledge, skills, mindsets, networks would you design for?
